The Petron Blaze Spikers defeated the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers in Game 2, 26-24, 24-26, 24-26, 25-23, 15-11, to win the 2017 Philippine SuperLiga All-Filipino Conference title on Thursday at the San Juan Arena.
It was a tight contest all throughout the match as both Petron and F2 Logistics took turns taking the first four sets.
In the fifth set, the Blaze Spikers had a 10-9 edge before Ara Galang scored on a block. A wide-attack by Ces Molina went long but the play was challenged by Petron coach Shaq delos Santos. After review, the referees gave the point to the Blaze Spikers after F2 Logistics was called for a block touch.
Galang got a block point again on the next rally before Molina returned the favor to keep Petron in front, 12-11. The Cargo Movers set up another play for Galang but her attack went wide as the Blaze Spikers took a two-point cushion.
An ace from Molina made it 14-11 and a net touch called on F2 Logistics gave Petron the fifth set and the championship, ending a two-year title drought in the Philippine SuperLiga.
Molina, who carried the Blaze Spikers in the endgame, had 10 points while Sisi Rondina led the team with 16 markers. Petron veteran Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, who was named the MVP of the All-Filipino Conference, added 14 points.
