Chooks To Go Pilipinas is just days away from competing in the upcoming FIBA Asia Champions Cup in Chenzhou, China from September 22 to 30.
The lineup of the squad was revealed on Tuesday at the send-off lunch at a hotel in Ortigas Center.
Leading the charge for Chooks To Go Pilipinas are Kiefer Ravena, Carl Bryan Cruz and Raymar Jose. Also joining them in China are Jeron Teng, Jett Manuel, Jeric Teng, Almond Vosotros, LA Revilla, Norbert Torres, Alfrancis Tamsi, and Rob Ebondo.
Gilas naturalization prospect Isaiah Austin is also included in the lineup to boost the team’s bid in China.
The other teams competing in the FIBA Asia Champions Cup are: BC Astana (Kazakhstan), Xinjiang Flying Tigers (China), Dacin Tigers (Taiwan), Al-Ahli (UAE), ONGC (India), Mono Vampire (Thailand), Al-Riyadi (Lebanon), Petrochimi (Iran) and Sareyyet Ramallah (Palestine).
The 10 participating teams will be divided into two groups (A and B). Group A includes Chooks To Go Pilipinas, ONGC, Mono Vampire, Petrochimi and Sareyyet Ramallah. Al-Ahli, BC Astana, Al-Riyadi, Dacin Tigers and Xinjiang Flying Tigers will make up Group B.
In the preliminary round, each competing squad will play the other teams in their group. The top four teams in each group will qualify for the quarterfinals.
China, which will field naturalized Filipino Andray Blatche, won the 2016 edition of the FIBA Asia Champions Cup. The Lebanese team finished second, while Iran placed third.
