PH basketball community rejoices on Twitter after Gilas beats China

Gilas Pilipinas began their 2017 FIBA Asia Cup on a strong note after defeating China 96-87 on Wednesday in Lebanon.

It was a rematch between the two finalists of the 2015 edition of this tournament, which was then called the FIBA Asia Championship. The Chinese national team eventually beat Gilas then, 78-67, to win the title.

The game was the first time Gilas and China played each other since that showdown, and it didnโ€™t disappoint.

Gilas led by as many as 17 points earlier in the game, before China came crawling back late in the third, and even took the lead late in the final period. Fortunately, our boysย wereย able to hang on behind the superb play of Terrence Romeo and Jayson Castro.

After the national team clinched the win, sports personalities went on Twitter to give Gilas their congratulatory messages.
