National volleyball pools trimmed to 18; Mika Reyes named skipper of women’s team

The Larong Volleyball ng Pilipinas, Inc. (LVPI) announced Friday afternoon the names of the 18 men and 18 women who made it to the national volleyball training pools. The lists, announced at Arellano University by men’s coach Sammy Acaylar and women’s coach Francis Vicente, are updates from the original 24-person pools announced in February.

From these pools will come the 12-person final lineups of the national volleyball teams that will represent the country in the Kuala Lumpur Southeast Asian Games in August. The final lineups will be announced sometime in July.

Vicente named Mika Reyes of Petron team captain of the women’s pool, while Johnvic De Guzman of St. Benilde was appointed skipper of the men’s side.
