Fast and furious were the best words to describe the Cebu Leg of the Smart Mobile Gaming League. Each game had exciting matches that were streamed on the GG Network Twitch and Facebook channels, where Mineski’s Vill and Hymnrael were joined by MPGL 7 Hearthstone winner Digital, PH Alliance’s Pompi and a few locals to cast for the event.
The winners will receive cash prizes courtesy of Smart and a seat in the Grand Finals to be held in Manila at the end of the tournament legs. In addition to the honor of representing their region, the winners also get roundtrip tickets and accommodations during the duration of the Grand Finals.
For Hearthstone, long-time community member Tope snagged the win after a thrilling reverse sweep from favored player Excellion. The game ended with Excellion using his Fireball to himself to end the mirror match. Tope pockets P3,000 and the Grand Finals berth.
In Clash Royale, it was Pete Paul Tonacao who powered through the competition to snag P3,000 and the Grand Finals trip in a sudden death decision.
When it came down to Mobile Legends, it was a dominant display by X Gaming that closed the finals match in record time with a 3-0 stomp on Starboys. Joy Adilein Mendoza (X.adilein), Wally Dean Mangubat (Wagalaw), Lyndell Son (Lx| Kigwa), Len Tabares (Lx| Len), and Nathaniel Patindol (X.Apple) went home with P10,000 and the spot at the Grand Finals.
The Smart Mobile Gaming League continues with the Pampanga Leg on June 24 and 25!
