Clash Royale August 11 Balance Update

Finally the next balance update was rolled out in Clash Royale!

The last balance update to Clash Royale was last June and while it was quite a lot in there, this balance update continues where the June update left off. Notably, the Night Witch continues to see nerfs and Bats continues to get a buff.

 

Night Witch: Damage -9%, range -11%, Bat spawn speed to 7sec (from 6sec), spawns 2 Bats on death (from 3)

Bats: Bat count to 5 (from 4)

Due to the growing use of Night Witch despite the nerfs last update, the continued Night Witch nerf was expected. The Bats on the other hand still isn’t played as much as cards like Skeletons or Goblins, thus the buff makes sense.

Battle Ram: Takes a bit longer to begin charging, Barbarians spawn slower

Battle Ram has also been one of the cards that also rose in the ranks in recent times especially with the bridge spam decks. Which is why the slower charge and the slower Barbarian spawn makes sense. The 4-tile charge time will mean that players will have set it up further on their side in order for it to be effective.

Graveyard: Duration to 9sec (from 10sec), spawns 15 Skeletons (from 17)

Graveyard has always been a staple card since its release and this time we get to see nerf going its way. The 1 sec decrease in duration and 2 less Skeleton spawn seems small on paper but will drastically lower its damage.

 

Heal: Duration to 2.5sec (from 3sec)

Heal has also grown in the meta especially when paired with the Three Musketeers. Like the Graveyard, the 0.5 second decrease looks minimal on paper, but it decreases Heal by about 30%.

 

Electro Wizard: Hitpoints -2%

The Electro Wizard is the last of the cards to receive a nerf this update and it doesn’t change much but it does make the new Mini P.E.K.K.A be able to kill the Electro Wizard in one swing.

 

Mini P.E.K.K.A: Damage +4.6%

Speaking of the Mini P.E.K.K.A, she’s getting an increase of +4.6%. This increase will mean that she can one shot the Musketeer and Wizard along with Electro Wizard.

 

Dark Prince: Damage +6%, hit speed to 1.4sec (from 1.5sec)

The Dark Prince gets a pretty significant buff this patch and may entice players to play the double Prince deck again.

 

 

X-Bow: Deploy time to 3.5sec (from 4sec)

Mortar: Deploy time to 3.5sec (from 4sec)

Two of the most devastating siege structures are getting a deploy time decrease by 0.5 seconds. This means that players will have to react faster if they want to save their Crown Towers from getting chunked.

 

Ice Wizard: Damage +10%, hit speed to 1.7sec (from 1.5sec)

Perhaps one of the biggest winners of this update is the Ice Wizard who sees a massive 10% increase in damage but will see a decrease in hit speed. This buff allows him to one shot Skeletons and Bats and also requires one less shot to kill Minions and Archers. These can be considered indirect nerfs to Bats and Graveyard, with the 3 Elixir Legendary being able to kill them in one shot.
