The ELEAGUE CS:GO Premier 2017 Playoffs have started just a few days ago, and the four Quarterfinals matches have been played. Now, only four teams remain – Cloud9, Astralis, FaZe Clan, and North. All four teams defeated their Quarterfinals opponents in 2-0 series wins.
The first of the four Quarterfinals matches was Cloud9 vs. G2 Esports. Game 1 of the series on Cobblestone saw G2 take a slight lead at the end of the first half 9-6. C9 rallied in the second half, and the game ended with a win for the NA squad. Game 2 on Inferno was another close match, for the first half at least. The second half was all C9 as they held G2 to all but one point en route to an easy 16-8 victory.
Astralis vs. Fnatic was the series that followed. Their first Game on Train was a 16-5 stomp by Astralis, which was a given as the said map is one of the Danish team’s strongest. Game 2 on Overpass was a much closer affair, though it was still Astralis that pulled out the victory in the end.
The following day, FaZe Clan faced off against Team EnVyUs. FaZe were certainly the favorites coming into this match, given that they’ve been on a hot streak lately. But EnVy put up a good fight in Game 1 on Nuke, though they still lost 16-12 in the end. EnVy looked to bounce back in Game 2 on Overpass, but FaZe did not let them as they were utterly dominated in a 16-3 loss.
The trend for the Quarterfinals series was so far was one close match and one stomp, not for North and Heroic’s series though. North put on a clinic in Games 1 and 2 on Overpass and Mirage respectively, as they defeated Heroic 16-7 in both games.
ELEAGUE Premier’s Semifinals matches will start tomorrow at 2am PHT, with the first series being Cloud9 vs. Astralis, followed by FaZe Clan vs. North. You can watch the game live here.
