Romero “Ruthless” Duno lived up to his lofty billing when he scored a second-round knockout win over Jason Tinampay in the main event of the “Brawl at the Mall: The Homecoming” Saturday night at the Robinsons Mall Atrium in General Santos City.
Considered one of the country’s hardest hitting fighters, Duno, the prized ward of the General Santos-City based Sanman Boxing Gym, floored Tinampay four times in the second round en route to pulling off the dominant victory that improved his record to 14W-1L-0D, 13KOs.
“Duno really improved a lot. He was a far different fighter when he came to Sanman a couple of years ago. He is a world-class fighter and he showed his last victory in Los Angeles was not plain luck. Great victory for Duno,” said Jim Claude Manangquil, chief executive officer of Sanman Promotions.
Duno didn’t disappoint in his first fight since his impressive second-round knockout win over the erstwhile unbeaten Christian Gonzalez last March 10 at the Belasco Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
Duno is set to fly to the US to start his campaign there under Golden Boy Promotions of legendary boxer Oscar De La Hoya.
The Bohol-native Tinampay fell to 8W-5L-1D.
