SMB teammates Chris Ross and Alex Cabagnot neck-and-neck in BPC race

A member of the San Miguel Beermen will most likely win the 2017 Oppo PBA Commissioner’s Cup Best Player of the Conference award.

Based on the statistics released by the league on Monday, San Miguel guards Chris Ross and Alex Cabagnot are tied for first in the player rankings with 34.125 statistical points (SP) each at the end of the semifinal round.

So far in 16 games this conference, Ross is averaging 13.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, 8.1 assists and 2.9 steals, while Cabagnot norms 15.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 1.2 steals per game.

Neither Ross nor Cabagnot has won a Best Player of the Conference plum.

Their teammate, June Mar Fajardo, who was last conference’s BPC awardee, lingers in third with 33.067 SPs. Following behind are GlobalPort’s Stanley Pringle with 32.538 SPs and TNT’s Jayson Castro with 32.467 SPs.

Rounding out the top 10 are Japeth Aguilar (32.400 SPs), Baser Amer (30.714 SPs), Marcio Lassiter (30.188 SPs), Terrence Romeo (29.667 SPs) and LA Tenorio (29.563 SPs).

Among the 10, only Ross, Cabagnot, Fajardo and Castro can add more to their SPs after San Miguel and TNT reached the Commissioner’s Cup finals.

Meanwhile, Ricardo Ratliffe of the Star Hotshots leads the Best Import race with 61.556 SPs after averaging 32.2 points, 20.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.3 blocks in nine games.

Blackwater’s Greg Smith came in second with 52.909 SPs, while Ginebra’s Justin Brownlee ranked third with 52.500 SPs. Alaska’s Cory Jefferson (47.417 SPs) and Phoenix’s Jameel McKay (46.455) placed third and fourth, respectively.
