The PBA penalized Phoenix assistant coach Nic Belasco and Rain or Shine import Shawn Taggart on Tuesday for their actions after the game between the Fuel Masters and Elasto Painters last April 12.
Belasco was fined P40,000 (P30,000 for fighting and P10,000 for instigating a fight), while Taggart was also hit with a P30,000 fine for fighting.
The two engaged in a heated conversation after the game as both teams headed into the dugouts. Taggart held Belasco who slapped the Rain or Shine import in the face. After the confrontation, an angry PBA commissioner Chito Narvasa approached Belasco and tried to pacify him.

Belasco, along with Phoenix team manager Paolo Bugia, was immediately summoned by Narvasa. After the brief meeting, Belasco faced the media and apologized for his actions.
“That’s the only thing I regret about it, is shedding a bad light on the PBA,” he said.
Belasco and Taggart met separately with Narvasa on Monday to air their sides.
Rain or Shine beat Phoenix in comeback fashion, 96-94, after trailing by as much as 17 points.
